Fish as tasty - old grease was the only shortcoming. First off, they need to change their oil! Potato skins - potatoes were not cooked enough, probably needed to have less potato- they had that starchy taste and texture. We had potato skin, coconut fish and fried zucchini. They had lots of appetizers so we decided to order multiple appetizers and no dinner. We had plan to play pool and enjoy some dinner and drinks. I settled for a bota box cab - and pretended it was drinkable. No blender so no margaritas, and bota box wines. But 27 beers on tap and not a porter or stout to be found. I had really high hopes when I entered this place- good ambiance! Lots of on tap beer, pool tables, and and the food menu looked great. It was totally relaxed in there for an early lunch, and hopefully my mentioning this will lure in folks from my generation to enjoy a very well-prepared bar meal. Our bartender/server gal was genuinely friendly, and had an impressive knowledge of her beer taps. I got a small bite and it was really good. My daughter loved her Pastrami & Egg burger, and in fact, wolfed the darned thing down before even poppin' a tot. Perfectly deep fried flaky cod-with no 'watery' consisitancy that you find sometimes-and three generous sized portions that filled me up just right. I had my eye on several desirable burger options, but went with their Alehouse Battered Cod & Chips. I'm reviewing today's lunch outing, and this place definitely gets my recommendation. 30 years ago, I'd have been at this place every weekend, and I bet it's pretty hoppin' for younger generations at night. This is a very clean and cool looking billiards bar, and it's huge. I would not recommend eatng at the Black Diamond as there are many resturants in the area with far superior selections. The service was quite good and the beer was cold. The roast beef in the french dip was also tasteless and the au jus was not a dip but gravy. The fries were good, however, over-salted. I had requested a knife to slice the meat as my fork could not cut through it. I found the burger to be tasteless and tough. I had ordered the Black Diamond Burger and my wife the french dip. There was a hesitation from our waitress, however, she did recommend the fries. I had asked about the food and if it was good. We were the only indiiduals eating at this time while 13 others played pool. The building is expansive and clean with a considerable number of pool tables. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival by a friendly young lady and selected a booth to sit in. We had not been at the Black Diamond for a number of years. My wife and I stopped by the Black Diamond Tuesday afternoon for a bite to eat and beverages.
